New Pipes
November 26, 2020

Big thanks to my parents for hosting Thanksgiving again this year. One of the main attractions was raking leaves and jumping into the pile. We also played games, watched basketball, and ate food!

New Pipes
November 24, 2020

After years of low flow hot water I finally had a plumber come out give me copper pipes, as well as a new hot water heater, garbage disposal, shower heads, valves and kitchen sink faucet. The first picture is the cold water supply lines to the toilets (which are aligned back to back in adjacent bathrooms). The second picture is me using my phone as a mirror while I shave, because I took everything out of the bathrooms, including the wall mirror!

November 15, 2020

I won my first race! There were only 24 guys in the race, but a win is a win. There were actually 5 races this weekend, 3 shorter races on Saturday, and 2 longer races today (Sunday). I entered the 13 mile race. No plan, just run and see what happens.

November 11, 2020

For Veterans Day this year my parents visited and we played 9 holes of golf. My new putting technique didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped.

Avila Family Vacation
August 12, 2020

This weekend we went on a family vacation in Avila Beach! Some of the highlights were the beach, foosball, good food, games, and just spending some time with the family and not working. Since I didn't bring my bike I ended up running over 10k feet of elevation in and around the hills, with Tom on a couple of the runs.

Sprint Tri
July 31, 2020

My first race in about 4 months! This sprint triathon was short and sweet. I got to use my new tri bike and meet new friends. In the first picture I'm second to the right, no wetsuit because the water was almost 80 degrees!

Tree Removal
July 15, 2020

I had the big Mulberry tree removed from my backyard today. It actually took a few days for everything to get done. It was invading my roof and my neighbor's roof, and cost a lot of money each year to have cut back. Below are 2 before pictures, and 2 after pictures.

May 24, 2020

Today I completed the 4x4x48 running challenge. It was draining! Run 4 miles every 4 hours for 2 days. Rest, nutrition, and discipline were just as important as being able to run a long distance. The picture below is during run #10 (out of 12 total runs), it was at 4am and it was the hardest.

New Bark
May 17, 2020

My parents leveled up their already great looking front yard with some new bark. They served me guacamole and chips and lunch and dinner for my help.

Mt. Diablo
May 17, 2020

Today was the first time with my new tri bike on Mt. Diablo. I only had enough energy to make it to the Rangers Station (Junction) point, but I plan to return to climb the full mountain someday!

May 6, 2020

There's a speed gun on La Riviera, so I had to take advantage of the situation and make it look like I was running fast haha!

May 2, 2020

With fewer activities these days I've taken to online chess. I'm not good, but I managed couple elegant checkmates here.

100 mile week
April 18, 2020

The Fleet Feet Racing Team Sacramento has been doing optional running challenges each week. This week was to run 100 miles. My previous weekly max was about 60 miles, so I knew this would be a stretch. But I managed to pull it off!

20.03.22 - Makeshift Marathon
March 22, 2020

Since the Oakland Marathon was cancelled this year, I decided to run a marathon myself - a 26.2 mile route that I created, in Sacramento. My route was to make multiple loops around the American River between Watt Ave. and Howe Ave. - but each loop would be a little different, as you can see from the map. I had my nutrition all planned and scheduled and finally broke 3 hours. I'm glad I went through with this 'race' because I had been training for it over the previous couple months.

Mossglen BDay
February 14, 2020

My parents and the Tom Nelson family visited Mossglen Circle today for a Birthday party. Thanks for visiting, everybody. And thanks for the cakes and decorations!

Double Duathlon
February 8, 2020

Today was my first ever "Double Duathlon". It was a run-bike-run-bike-run event. I had a respectable 4th place finish, but there weren't too many people in the race. I got kinda tired of transition. In less than 90 minutes there were 4 transitions, and I'm know I wasn't particularly fast at my transitions.

Swim Practice
February 4, 2020

I started attending swim practice at the Swimstitute this evening. Last year I started in April, this year I'm getting an earlier start. Hard to see me, but I'm more towards the left side of this picture.

Superbowl Pizza
February 2, 2020

I spent the afternoon watching the Super Bowl in Walnut Creek. I can't say no to pizza!

Kings Game
January 15, 2020

This evening dad and I went to the Sacramento Kings basketball game. Thanks for joining dad!

Prediciton 5k
January 4, 2020

Today the Buffalo Chips running club put on a 'Prediction 5k' run, where you have to guess your time before you run, and then try to run that exact time without using a watch. I was a full 2 minutes off my prediction haha! One lady nailed her predicted pace, to the exact second.
